Bre Sessions

Owner & lead photographer

My passion for storytelling started at a young age. I studied theater, and had dreams of being on Broadway one day. After going to school in NYC and pursuing acting for a number of years (and waiting a lot of tables) I decided it might be time to pursue my other interests! Meeting my now husband, who lived in Athens at the time (Go Dawgs) and a job opportunity with SPANX in their early days, got me out of Manhattan and down to the South!

After having my daughter in 2006, I got my first digital camera! I had always been passionate about photography, but my cute new subject gave me the extra inspiration to take things to the next level. After taking classes at both UGA, and later at SCAD, I started assisting and second shooting with other photographers, and by 2008 Bre Sessions Photography was born!

My second daughter came along in 2011, she was a wonderful little whirlwind of life! Unfortonatly, after three short years with her, she ran ahead of us to Heaven. Losing her has changed my world in every way imaginable, inlcuding the way I photograph. That experince has taught me that life goes by fast, and tomorow is a gift none of us is promised. Everyday spent with those we love, is an incredible gift. My experience with loss has given me an even deeper appreciation for the value of a photograph. I look through images of my daughter and treasure everyone of them. They bring back memories, and smiles of days filled with love and laughter. They have truly become my most valuable possessions.

When I show up to a wedding or portrait session, I know you are entrusting me, to create and capture those precious moments for your family. It's a responsibility I don't take lightly, and I am honored when someone puts their trust in me to document and preserve their story.

I am based in the Northern suburbs of Atlanta, but I love to travel, and have shot weddings up and down the East Coast, and am happy to travel world wide!

I would love to connect, and hear more about your photography needs, so let’s get together for a cup coffee (or glass of wine) and you can fill me in on all the details! Message me here to get started!

My Style of Photography

I believe great photos begin, long before a camera ever comes out. Getting to know my clients, and what matters most to them, before we ever start shooting, is an essential part of my process. For this reason I ask a lot of questions in my intial conversations before even booking a client, to make sure we are the right fit. I also offer follow up phone calls, or in person meets ups to help assist in planning for your shoot! This can include everything from offering wardrobe advice for a family session, helping scout locations for engagement shoot, or helping to create a wedding day photo timeline. I find all of these things done in advance, help to ensure you get photos you love!

On the day of your session, my goal is that you relax and have fun taking photos! I know it can be hard to be yourself when a camera is in your face, so I like to use longer zoom lenses to give you space for moments to unfold naturally. I always capure a mix of documentary style images, along with posed portraits. I do try to include movement even in more posed shots, so that they never feel too stiff or forced.

After your shoot my goal is to get you photos, or at least a sneak peek as soon as possible! I know it's hard to wait, when you are excited! All images you recive are fully edited, and anything you order a wall print of, or put in an album, gets a secondary round of fine art retouching. My editing style, I would describe as rich and real. I want the images to bring back what it actually looked like on the day, rather than using heavily styled presets. I find editing styles change over the years, and my hope is that your images will feel classic and timeless, and look as good twenty years from now as they do today.

Giving Back

By hiring me, you are also making it possible for me to give back to help others in need. It's important to me that use my time and talents to serve others. One way I do that is by volunteering for "Love Not Lost", a non-profit that donates complimentary photo sessions to families who have a terminal diagnosis. I have been volunteeting with them for the last 3 years, and have gotten to meet and photograph some amazing familes! I was also recently apporved to be a photographer with "The Gold Hope Project", which provides photo sessions to families whose children are diagnosed with cancer.
